Customs Declaration Officer

About the role

The Declaration Officer will join MØ Freight Company Ltd’s customs team in Dar es‑Salaam, handling all documentation required for import and export shipments across sea, road, air and rail. This full‑time, on‑site position ensures that cargo moves smoothly through customs while complying with local and regional regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and verify shipment information, invoices and packing lists.
• Prepare and submit customs declarations for multi‑modal freight.
• Assign correct HS codes and calculate duties, taxes and fees.
• Maintain compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with customs officials, port operators, transport providers and internal logistics teams to resolve documentation issues.
• Monitor regulatory changes and keep records up‑to‑date.
• Provide clients with status updates and basic guidance on customs procedures.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, HS classification and import/export procedures.
• Proven experience preparing customs declarations and clearance documentation.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with authorities and clients.
• Ability to prioritize multiple shipments in a fast‑paced environment.
• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field is advantageous.

Required skills
