Custom Clearance Specialist

About the role

The Custom Clearance Specialist is responsible for managing the full customs clearance process for bulk carrier shipments, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian regulations and smooth coordination with all parties involved in loading and unloading operations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the complete customs clearance process for bulk carriers using the TRA/TANCIS system.
• Participate in pre‑voyage meetings with shipping lines, agents, and port authorities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with bulk carrier transport providers.
• Oversee container inspection and coordinate loading activities.
• Coordinate vehicle contact and scheduling for cargo evacuation during unloading.
• Apply for required permits and documentation with port and regulatory authorities.
• Liaise with stevedores, transporters, and warehouse teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Monitor and report on clearance timelines, costs, and any issues that arise.

Required profile

• Experience handling customs clearance for bulk carrier shipments.
• Familiarity with Tanzanian port procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including shipping lines, agents, stevedores, and transport providers.
• Strong organizational skills to track permits, documentation, and clearance timelines.
