Country Representative – Tanzania

About the role

WeWorld is seeking a dynamic Country Representative to lead its programmes in Tanzania. Based in Dar es Salaam, you will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of multi‑sectoral projects that improve the wellbeing of children and vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian NGO legislation and reporting requirements.
• Supervise the child sponsorship programme (LDSP) in coordination with HQ and local staff.
• Develop and execute a country strategic plan aligned with organisational priorities.
• Manage programme budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation.
• Lead recruitment, performance management, and development of international and national staff.
• Represent WeWorld to donors, ministries, local authorities, and partners.
• Oversee security management and risk mitigation for staff and assets.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in an international NGO or development agency.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian legal and regulatory environment for NGOs.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.
