Catamaran Captain / Skipper

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and certified Catamaran Captain (Skipper) to operate our Ocean Voyager 40 catamaran on daily tourism and leisure trips around Zanzibar. The role combines safe vessel navigation, passenger safety, crew supervision, and strict compliance with maritime regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and navigate the catamaran safely during daily excursions.
• Conduct pre‑departure and post‑trip vessel inspections.
• Monitor weather forecasts, sea conditions, and navigation routes.
• Ensure compliance with Tanzanian maritime laws and regulations.
• Maintain accurate voyage logs and operational records.
• Coordinate and supervise onboard crew members.
• Manage emergency situations and execute safety procedures.
• Liaise with port authorities and marine regulatory bodies.
• Report maintenance issues and coordinate repairs.
• Deliver excellent customer service to guests and tourists.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating catamarans, yachts, or similar passenger vessels.
• Previous experience in tourism, charter operations, or leisure cruises preferred.
• Valid maritime Captain/Skipper License.
• STCW Certification (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping).
• Basic Safety Training certificates.
• Tanzanian or South African nationality.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of marine engines and systems.
