Camp Manager – Dar Essalam, Tanzania

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Camp Manager to lead day‑to‑day operations at a remote lodge, guiding camp and food operation in Dar Essalam, Tanzania. You will act as the primary liaison between the owners, management team and camp staff, ensuring seamless guest experiences and efficient internal processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support and co‑manage daily camp operations, overseeing housekeeping, kitchen, guides and maintenance.
• Collaborate with the Lodge Manager, Head Chef and Procurement Manager on service standards, stock control and budget awareness.
• Lead guest relations from arrival through departure, including hosting, activity coordination and front‑of‑house management.
• Handle basic HR functions such as staff scheduling, training follow‑up, communication and morale building.
• Maintain operational systems, including checklists, simple reporting and cross‑department coordination.

Required profile

• Proven small‑scale hospitality experience in owner‑run environments (e.g., boutique lodges, safari camps, regenerative farms).
• Fluent English (spoken and written); additional languages such as Swahili or Maa are a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise teams, manage rotas and coach staff.
• Experience with stock control, waste reduction and basic cost tracking.
• Preference for place‑based, human‑scale hospitality over corporate standardisation.
