Associate Director, Supply Chain Management

About the role

The Associate Director, Supply Chain Management provides strategic and technical leadership to strengthen Tanzania’s public health supply chain and pharmaceutical services. Reporting to the Technical Director, the role shapes strategic direction and oversees execution of the supply chain portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Set overall strategic direction for the supply chain portfolio and establish measurable performance indicators aligned with project objectives and donor priorities.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to the supply chain team, fostering high performance, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Lead work‑planning, ensuring activities align with annual work plans and approved budgets.
• Ensure donor, programmatic, operational, and financial requirements are met; monitor progress against work plans, milestones, indicators, and budgets.
• Identify implementation risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage consultants, sub‑partners, and technical advisors.
• Coordinate with the Director of Strategic Information to support effective monitoring, evaluation, learning, and adaptive management.
• Drive review of performance data to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement.
• Oversee preparation and quality assurance of donor reports, technical updates, success stories, and other deliverables.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading public‑health supply chain initiatives and managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of national and sub‑national health commodity systems, pharmaceutical management, and regulatory environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work with donors, ensure compliance, and deliver results within timelines and budgets.
• Experience in risk identification, mitigation planning, and overseeing consultants or partners.
• Ability to coordinate monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes and produce high‑quality reports.
