Assistant General Manager – Hospitality

About the role

The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing all aspects of operations on Mnemba Island, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and sustainable community impact. This role blends operational leadership, staff development, and strategic project management within a luxury hospitality setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with daily operations, budgeting (OPEX & CAPEX) and strategic decision‑making.
• Support training and development of staff, and maintain key relationships with partners such as Chadewu.
• Manage uniform orders, bi‑annual South Africa orders, and the FBC to‑do list.
• Oversee projects, supplier relationships, and social‑media/PR communications.
• Coordinate with the Operations and Hospitality Managers to ensure seamless guest check‑ins, room allocations, and overall service delivery.
• Supervise housekeeping, butler, and kitchen functions, and handle daily administration and reporting.
• Liaise with regional support teams and oversee conservation initiatives on Mnemba Island.
• Drive community‑development projects and facilitate guest exposure to local initiatives.
• Conduct performance management, maintain staff contracts, address IR issues, and deliver monthly HR reports.

Required profile

• Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience in hotel or resort operations.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Strong computer literacy.

• Computer literacy (ability to use standard office software).
