Accountant – Mining sector (Dar es Salaam)

About the role

Shugulika Africa Limited is seeking an experienced Accountant to support a mining client in Dar es Salaam. The role is full‑time and focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting operational reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain books of accounts, record and reconcile sales, purchases, expenses and bank transactions.
• Perform bank, creditor and debtor reconciliations.
• Prepare statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, SDL, WHT) and meet TRA filing deadlines.
• Monitor stock accounting, reconcile physical inventory, and assist with cost tracking for imports and landed cost allocation.
• Manage supplier payments, customer invoicing, receivables follow‑ups and aging reports.
• Support audit preparations and verify supporting documents.
• Maintain accounting records using Tally or other accounting software.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or ACCA is a plus.
• 8–10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax and statutory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, numerical and organizational abilities with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Tally accounting software.
