Wireless Network Optimization Engineer

About the role

ZTE Tanzania is seeking a Wireless Network Optimization Engineer to monitor, analyze and improve LTE network performance across its Tanzanian portfolio. The role involves daily KPI tracking, drive‑test analysis and close collaboration with field and support teams to ensure high‑quality voice and data services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse LTE network KPIs on a daily/weekly basis.
• Perform drive‑test data processing using industry‑standard tools to identify coverage, interference and quality issues.
• Propose and implement parameter tuning, feature activation and neighbor‑cell optimization strategies.
• Handle subscriber complaints, conduct root‑cause analysis and deliver rapid remediation.
• Support site roll‑outs and new feature trials with pre‑ and post‑optimization audits.
• Generate performance reports and present improvement action plans to management and customers.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet contractual SLAs and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in 3G/4G/5G network optimization with proven KPI improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, able to work under pressure.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

Required skills

• LTE air‑interface protocols and signalling procedures.
• Drive‑test data analysis and map‑based troubleshooting (MapInfo, Google Earth, QGIS).
• Analysis of network counters, traces and log files.
• 3G/4G/5G network optimization techniques.
