Tree Specialist – Tanzania (Fixed‑term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking an operational leader to drive its tree marketing and distribution programme across Tanzania. The Tree Specialist will oversee the delivery of tree seedlings to smallholder farmers, manage field teams and collaborate with partners to scale farmer enrollment and impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead execution of annual marketing, farmer enrollment and seedling distribution strategies across designated districts.
• Direct field operations at 100–150 sites, overseeing species selection, seedling distribution pipelines and post‑distribution survival tracking.
• Manage and mentor 6–10 Tree Supervisors, setting performance targets and providing technical agroforestry training.
• Develop and deliver training materials for farmers on tree management, agroforestry techniques and long‑term care.
• Coordinate with local government, cross‑functional teams and external partners to ensure programme alignment and integration.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in agricultural programme operations or related field.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate field teams and manage multiple supervisors.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience partnering with government or NGOs.
• Passion for improving smallholder farmer livelihoods and environmental resilience.
