HR Business Partner – Bilingual (French/English)

About the role

Jaza is expanding into new markets across Africa and beyond, and needs an experienced HR Business Partner to lead the people operations set‑up. You will work closely with Employer of Record partners, talent acquisition, and country HR teams to launch and scale teams while embedding Jaza’s culture.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the dedicated HR Business Partner for new‑market teams from pilot through scale‑up, then hand over to the Country HR lead.
• Coach managers on performance management, employee development and disciplinary actions.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition and recruitment agencies to ensure seamless hiring, onboarding and candidate experience.
• Manage the full performance‑review cycle, including probation reviews, goal setting and evaluations.
• Champion culture, employee wellbeing and engagement activities.
• Lead the New Market launch process: contracting, payroll, mandatory insurance, employee records and HRIS implementation.
• Maintain accurate, compliant employee records across all HR and payroll systems.
• Submit monthly payroll data to finance and support global benefits administration.
• Own the relationship with Employer of Record partners and coordinate with local labor‑law experts to ensure full compliance.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of agile HR experience, with at least 3 years as an HR Business Partner supporting teams across multiple African countries.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, Psychology or related field.
• Deep practical knowledge of labor laws in several African countries; experience in Asian/Western markets is a plus.
• Proven ability to manage relationships with EOR providers and external legal counsel.
• Strong cross‑cultural communication skills and fluency in both French and English.
• Detail‑oriented, organized and able to handle confidential information.
