Deputy Representative Operations (P-5) – Temporary (4 months)

About the role

This temporary position supports the Head of Office in Dar es Salaam as a Strategic Business Partner and Deputy Representative for Operations. The incumbent will drive results, manage change, and provide risk‑informed, solution‑focused analysis to help UNICEF achieve its programme objectives for children across Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Officer in Charge during the Head of Office’s absence, ensuring continuity of leadership.
• Lead and coordinate operational services, including finance, procurement, logistics, and human resources.
• Provide strategic advice and analysis to senior management for programme and management decisions.
• Monitor performance indicators, identify risks, and propose corrective actions.
• Support the development and implementation of the Country Programme 2022‑2027.
• Represent UNICEF in external meetings and coordinate with government and partner agencies.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in international development or humanitarian operations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex operational environments.
• Strong analytical skills and experience in risk‑based decision making.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
