Software Integration Engineer – VAS

About the role

The VAS Software Integration Engineer is responsible for overseeing systems administration, providing technical support, and driving software development and integration initiatives within a telecom environment. You will work closely with backend teams to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software following Vodacom SDLC and standards.
• Configure and secure applications in line with VTL policies and industry best practices.
• Manage incidents, problems, and service requests according to SLA, including business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
• Oversee system capacity, backup & restore, and ensure optimal service provision.
• Collaborate with backend teams for proper implementation and integration of VAS solutions.
• Participate in projects related to VAS applications, IT, billing, and broader Vodacom initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with programming languages such as Visual Basic, C#, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, ASP, PHP, Java, and Go.
• Experience in cloud‑native environments and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, LSD, FDD) is a plus.
• Knowledge of telecommunications and project management is advantageous.
• Proven ability to manage incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
