About the role
The Sales Manager – Acquiring will lead the merchant acquiring sales function, driving growth in transaction volumes, revenue and market share across Africa. You will shape the sales strategy, collaborate with product, marketing and channel teams, and ensure a compelling value proposition for merchants.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the merchant acquiring sales strategy to increase volumes, revenue and market share.
- Set sales targets, monitor performance and ensure financial goals are met.
- Identify new market opportunities, priority segments and payment use‑cases.
- Oversee acquisition, onboarding, activation and ongoing management of merchants.
- Maintain high portfolio quality, drive utilization and cross‑sell additional payment solutions.
- Collaborate with product, marketing and channel teams on pricing, features and go‑to‑market plans.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends and regulatory developments.
- Lead, coach and motivate the sales team, implement performance monitoring and incentive programmes.
- Ensure compliance with risk, regulatory and operational standards while working with operations and technology teams.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading sales teams in payments, banking or related financial services.
- Strong track record of achieving revenue and market‑share targets.
- Ability to analyse data and market insights to inform strategy.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills with merchants and internal stakeholders.
- Understanding of risk, compliance and operational standards in a banking environment.
