About the role
The Manager, Custody Operations Tanzania will lead the securities custody function for the bank’s Tanzanian operations, ensuring efficient, accurate and secure delivery of custody services that meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities
- Align custody operational practices with the bank’s strategic objectives and adapt them to the Tanzanian securities market and regulatory environment.
- Manage and supervise end‑to‑end custody operations daily, including securities settlement, corporate actions processing, cash handling and client instruction management.
- Design and implement processes to support new products, services and market developments, driving operational scalability.
- Monitor service quality and performance metrics, identify systemic issues and lead corrective initiatives.
- Allocate and optimise resources to meet workload, financial targets and operational priorities.
- Oversee compliance of transactions involving equities, fixed income, money‑market and cash instruments, ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory mandates.
- Identify and resolve transaction exceptions promptly, escalating risks as appropriate.
- Ensure timely processing of corporate events, income distributions and proxy voting in line with client instructions.
- Manage the account lifecycle, including client onboarding, maintenance, billing, invoicing and revenue reconciliation.
- Provide swift resolution to client inquiries and complaints, improving service protocols.
- Serve as the primary operational contact for custody clients, delivering professional and responsive support.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (business units, compliance, risk, technology) and external entities (brokers, regulators, auditors).
- Share market intelligence, operational updates and regulatory developments with relevant parties.
- Represent custody operations in governance forums, regulatory engagements and cross‑functional meetings.
Required profile
- Significant experience in custody operations.
- Deep understanding of post‑trade securities processes and the Tanzanian market environment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a dedicated custody operations team.
- Strong awareness of risk, compliance and regulatory requirements.
