Driver/Mechanic for Field Operations in Tanzania

About the role

The Driver/Mechanic will ensure safe transportation of staff, goods, and equipment across Kyerwa District and other operational areas. The role also includes basic mechanical maintenance of vehicles, motorcycles, and generators to keep operations running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate RTV vehicles for assignments in urban and rural settings.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections (fuel, oil, coolant, brakes, tires, battery, lights).
• Adhere to Tanzania road traffic regulations and report any incidents.
• Perform minor mechanical repairs and coordinate major repairs with approved garages.
• Maintain motorcycles and generators, monitoring fuel consumption per policy.
• Keep accurate vehicle logbooks, checklists, and inventory records.
• Ensure first‑aid kits are stocked and vehicles are clean and roadworthy.
• Handle safe collection, transport, and delivery of goods and equipment.

Required profile

• Ordinary Level Certificate (mandatory).
• Certificate in Motor Vehicle Technician Course Part II or equivalent.
• Minimum five years experience as a driver/mechanic, preferably with an international NGO.
• Ability to work in remote field locations and maintain high professionalism.
