Technical Officer – Maternal and Neonatal Health

About the role

The Technical Officer – Maternal and Neonatal Health will provide technical and programmatic support for MNCH interventions under the GATHER Project. The role focuses on designing and implementing post‑natal care strategies for small and sick newborns, ensuring alignment with scientific evidence and national standards.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with regional and district health teams and partners to improve provider knowledge, skills, and attitudes.
• Provide technical support for MNH strategies and interventions across the GATHER Project.
• Support regional adaptation of GATHER technical approaches and represent the project in meetings at all levels.
• Contribute to work planning, budgeting, and ensure alignment with Jhpiego and national RMNH standards.
• Coordinate MNH‑related trainings and mentor supervisors and providers.
• Support performance and quality improvement initiatives in clinical sites.
• Document project activities, lessons learned, and success stories.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, medicine, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in reproductive and RMNH programming.
• At least 5 years experience as a classroom and clinical trainer.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Swahili.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Team‑player who is flexible, dependable, and self‑motivated.
