Start Up Advisor, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

About the role

Jhpiego is seeking a short‑term Start‑up Advisor to provide Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) support for the ASCEND project in Tanzania. The position lasts one month and will help launch a donor‑funded initiative aimed at improving maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical MEL oversight for the ASCEND start‑up phase in collaboration with Jhpiego’s global MEL team.
• Review and contribute to the Tanzania workplan, including the Performance Monitoring Plan.
• Supply budget inputs aligned with MEL requirements for the Finance and Operations Manager.
• Develop service‑level targets at national, regional, council and facility/community levels.
• Conduct technical reviews of partner sub‑award documents related to MEL.
• Support the creation of data collection tools, reporting templates and learning mechanisms.

Required profile

• Experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning for health programs, preferably in low‑resource settings.
• Familiarity with maternal, newborn, child health (MNCH) and nutrition interventions.
• Ability to work closely with international and local teams and adapt quickly to start‑up environments.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
