Senior Technical Officer, Demand Planning – Malaria

About the role

The Senior Technical Officer (STO) – Demand Planning for Malaria will support Tanzania’s National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) to ensure timely availability of quality malaria commodities across the health system. Based in Dar es Salaam, the STO will provide technical guidance, capacity building and oversight of demand planning and supply‑chain activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to NMCP and partners to strengthen malaria commodity demand planning and supply‑chain management.
• Lead quantification exercises, bottom‑up forecasting and supply‑chain reviews for malaria commodities.
• Mentor and train staff and stakeholders on logistics, forecasting, and supply‑chain systems.
• Develop and maintain stock status reporting mechanisms and disseminate updates to all health‑system levels.
• Monitor performance of demand‑planning activities, identify challenges, and propose mitigation measures.
• Prepare technical briefs, reports and knowledge products on demand‑planning best practices.
• Support business development activities, including opportunity identification and proposal development.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, supply‑chain management, logistics or a related field.
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in demand planning, quantification or supply‑chain management for health commodities, preferably in malaria programs.
• Proven ability to provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to government and partner teams.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in forecasting, pipeline analysis and performance monitoring.
• Excellent written communication for preparing reports and technical materials.
