HR Officer – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

About the role

The HR Officer is responsible for managing day‑to‑day HR activities, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labour law, company policies, and best HR practices, with a strong focus on employee relations and disciplinary matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day HR administration, employee records, contracts, leave, attendance and payroll inputs.
• Provide HR advice to employees and management in line with Tanzanian labour legislation.
• Assist in disciplinary processes, including show‑cause letters, warnings, charge letters, hearings, investigations and documentation.
• Support management with employee relations, performance, absenteeism, misconduct and conflict matters.
• Maintain knowledge of CMA procedures and support mediation, arbitration and employment disputes.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee engagement initiatives.
• Assist with development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and personnel files.
• Manage employment contracts, amendments, confirmations, transfers, promotions and other documentation.
• Monitor attendance, leave, overtime and other HR‑related records.
• Provide accurate HR information for payroll preparation and identify discrepancies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial relations, law or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of HR experience, preferably with strong employee‑relations exposure.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian labour law and disciplinary procedures.
• Good knowledge of CMA procedures and employment disputes in Tanzania.
• Fluent English and Swahili; French is an advantage.
