Garment Design and Cutting Technician

About the role

Kapari Limited is seeking a skilled Garment Design and Cutting Technician to join its on‑site team in Dar es Salaam. You will turn design concepts into precise patterns and cut fabric pieces that meet the high standards of our branding and printing projects.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret design briefs and technical drawings to create accurate patterns.
• Measure, mark, and cut fabrics using hand tools and cutting machines for both small and large production runs.
• Inspect cut pieces for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Collaborate closely with designers, printing staff and production teams to guarantee seamless execution of apparel orders.
• Maintain a safe, organized workspace and monitor material usage to minimise waste.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives in garment production processes.

Required profile

• Strong garment design and pattern‑making abilities with the capacity to read technical specifications.
• Proficiency in fabric cutting techniques and operation of cutting equipment.
• Solid understanding of garment construction, textiles and fabric behavior.
• Attention to detail, quality‑control mindset and basic numeracy for layout optimisation.
• Experience in apparel manufacturing, tailoring or a related environment is highly beneficial.
• Commitment to workplace safety and willingness to learn new techniques.
• Relevant vocational training or certification in garment design, cutting or fashion technology is an advantage.
