Core Network Engineer / IP Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Core Network Engineer / IP Engineer to design, implement, optimise and maintain our core IP network infrastructure. The role ensures high availability, performance and scalability of routers, switches, firewalls and related services that support internet, voice and data communications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deploy core IP network architecture, including routing and switching configurations.
• Configure and manage core routers, switches and firewalls in line with network strategy.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot latency, packet loss and outages, and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Manage IPv4 and IPv6 address allocation and coordinate with Regional Internet Registries.
• Implement and maintain dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS) and traffic‑engineering techniques such as MPLS and VRF.
• Configure firewalls, VPNs and IPSec, apply ACLs and conduct regular security assessments.
• Conduct capacity planning, forecast traffic growth and recommend hardware or software upgrades.
• Collaborate with service delivery, network operations, customer support and external vendors to ensure seamless service deployment.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and operating core IP networks.
• Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS, VRF).
• Hands‑on experience with IPv4/IPv6 address management and RIR processes.
• Familiarity with firewall, VPN and IPSec configuration and network security best practices.
• Ability to perform network monitoring, troubleshooting and capacity planning.
