2G & 3G RF Optimization Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced RF Optimization Engineer to improve the performance of our GSM and UMTS networks. You will work with Nokia NetAct to monitor KPIs, resolve quality issues, and support spectrum refarming projects.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze GSM KPIs (CSSR, CDR, HOSR, traffic, congestion) using Nokia NetAct.
• Identify and fix coverage holes, overshooting cells, co‑channel and adjacent‑channel interference.
• Optimize handover performance and tune parameters such as power control, handover thresholds, RXLEV/RXQUAL, and timing advance.
• Support frequency optimization (BCCH, TCH, hopping) to improve speech quality.
• Handle customer complaints and VIP cases with clear RCA and corrective actions.
• Lead 2G‑to‑3G spectrum refarming activities, validate frequency re‑allocation, and ensure no degradation of voice services.
• Re‑optimize UMTS coverage and capacity to absorb refarmed traffic.
• Coordinate with RF Planning, Core, and Field teams during refarming execution.
• Support drive testing and prepare impact and stabilization reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on RF optimization experience in 2G (GSM) and 3G (UMTS) networks.
• Experience working in Nokia radio network environments is highly preferred.
• Proven track record in live network optimization and post‑launch performance improvement.
• Strong analytical skills with NetAct OSS for KPI monitoring and troubleshooting.
