Technical Specialist – Underground Auto Electrical

About the role

The Technical Specialist – Underground Auto Electrical provides expert maintenance and repair support for heavy underground mining equipment at Geita Gold Mine. The role ensures equipment operates to OEM standards, promotes safe operation, and transfers specialised knowledge to national auto‑electricians.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver advanced maintenance and repair for underground heavy mining equipment, focusing on RCT (Radio Communication & Tracking) systems.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs on remote electrical components and systems.
• Train, coach, and monitor the development of national auto‑electricians, reporting progress to management.
• Conduct diagnostic electrical tests and advise the Underground Engineering Superintendent.
• Coordinate parts ordering and liaise with planners, agents, and manufacturers to resolve issues efficiently.
• Complete required documentation and ensure effective repair of petrol and diesel vehicles and plant.

Required profile

• Recognised trade certificate in Auto Electrical work, Air‑Conditioning and Radio Communication.
• Preferred trainer/coach qualification (certification or diploma).
• 8‑10+ years experience maintaining heavy underground mining equipment.
• Proven experience developing and delivering training to technical staff.
• Strong English communication skills.
