Technical Advisor – Early Childhood Development (Responsive Caregiving)

About the role

The Early Childhood Development (ECD) project in Tanzania’s Arusha Region seeks a Technical Advisor to provide expert guidance on responsive caregiving and nutrition. The advisor will lead the design and implementation of evidence‑based interventions that improve practices among adolescents and young parents.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the responsive caregiving and nutrition components of the ECD project.
• Design and adapt social and behavior change (SBC) strategies aligned with the Nurturing Care Framework.
• Train and mentor Community Health Workers, peer champions and community leaders.
• Generate actionable evidence on SBC delivery and support its integration into government planning.
• Collaborate with project partners to ensure high‑quality implementation and monitoring.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Technical Advisor or senior specialist in early childhood development, specifically responsive caregiving and nutrition.
• Strong knowledge of the Nurturing Care Framework and SBC methodologies.
• Experience working with community health systems and youth‑led peer groups in low‑resource settings.
• Ability to produce evidence‑based recommendations and support institutionalization of interventions.
