About the role
Welo Data is looking for native Swahili speakers to join a short‑term freelance project that evaluates machine‑generated translations. As a Translation Validator you will compare two AI‑produced Swahili versions of an English source text, choose the better one and explain your decision.
Key responsibilities
- Review English source documents together with two machine‑generated Swahili translations (Variant A and Variant B).
- Assess each variant for accuracy, fluency and overall quality.
- Select the preferred translation and write a concise justification for the choice.
- Check accompanying audio files and transcriptions for correctness and completeness.
- Complete assigned samples independently within the project timeline.
Required profile
- Native‑level fluency in Swahili (written and spoken).
- Strong written English skills.
- Background in linguistics, translation or language quality assessment is preferred.
- Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Romanized script conventions is a plus.
