Survey Technician

About the role

The Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is looking for a Survey Technician to support underground mining operations. You will work closely with the Mine Surveyor to ensure accurate survey data, maintain equipment, and uphold safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all safety, occupational health, and environmental policies, attend compulsory safety courses, and use required PPE.
• Record fired rounds, monitor development trends, and process development pickups.
• Set up DGPS base stations, compile and file survey station reports and stakeout plans.
• Position and place survey stations as directed, conduct regular stock‑taking of survey consumables.
• Install grade pins, lasers, stations, and perform hole mark‑ups (EH, PH, face).
• Assist the Mine Surveyor with instrument setup, battery management, and maintenance of survey control.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections, report defects, and coordinate with the Maintenance Department.
• Conduct borehole surveys for production holes (downhole and uphole).

Required profile

• Survey Technician certificate or equivalent qualification in Geomatics, Cartography, Civil Engineering, or Mining Survey.
• Minimum 2 years experience in underground mining surveying.
• Proven ability to work safely in an underground environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
• On‑the‑job training or documented experience accepted by company authorities.

Required skills

• Conventional surveying methods and equipment handling.
• Survey station reporting and data compilation.
• Installation of grade pins, lasers, and survey stations.
• Borehole surveying (downhole and uphole).
• Drone pilot licence (preferred).
• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
