Support Worker – Kapiti (Permanent)

About the role

We are looking for compassionate Support Workers to join our Kapiti Coast team. This permanent, full‑time position involves helping people with disabilities lead active, independent lives in a rural setting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily routines, household tasks and personal care.
• Facilitate walks, outdoor activities, community outings and other active pursuits.
• Support the development of practical life skills and healthy lifestyle habits.
• Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and follow behaviour support plans.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment and respond calmly to challenging situations.

Required profile

• Patient, reliable and motivated to create positive change.
• Ability to set clear professional boundaries and work with clear structure.
• Comfortable with household tasks and modelling healthy routines.
• Resilient, calm under pressure and able to follow detailed plans.
• Previous experience in disability or mental health support is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Experience in disability or mental health support.
• Understanding of behaviour support strategies and intellectual disabilities.
• Confidence in setting professional boundaries.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
• Commitment to inclusive, person‑directed support.
