Software Developer

About the role

Karibu World, Tanzania's leading travel management company, is modernising its internal operations. We are looking for a hands‑on Software Developer to work directly with the director, designing, building and maintaining custom platforms that support bookings, payments and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal platforms using PHP and MySQL.
• Create interactive front‑ends with JavaScript, jQuery and React.
• Design and manage databases for bookings, payments, customers and reporting.
• Integrate third‑party APIs (payments, messaging, travel systems) and handle JSON data.
• Build automation workflows for WhatsApp, Instagram and system triggers.
• Improve performance, security and reliability of existing systems.
• Collaborate with the director to turn business ideas into working software.
• Document systems and support handover to non‑technical staff when needed.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work independently.
• Clear communication with non‑technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn new tools quickly and focus on delivering functional solutions.

Required skills

• Solid experience with PHP (backend development).
• Proficient in MySQL schema design, queries and optimisation.
• Strong JavaScript skills, including jQuery and/or React.
• Ability to build full CRUD systems (forms, validation, storage, reporting).
• Experience integrating APIs and handling JSON data.
• Comfortable debugging live systems and fixing real‑world issues.
