SME Relationship Officer

About the role

The SME Relationship Officer will acquire and manage relationships with Small and Medium Business customers for NBC, Tanzania's oldest bank. The role combines proactive sales, customer service, and compliance responsibilities to deliver holistic financial solutions and ensure client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Drive client profitability by identifying, building and deepening relationships with SME customers, offering a wide range of banking products and services.
• Maintain regular face‑to‑face meetings, communication and a Customer Relationship Management plan for top borrowing and non‑borrowing clients.
• Develop and sustain a pipeline of business opportunities, track referrals and keep accurate records of all client interactions.
• Provide professional client support, respond promptly to complaints, educate customers on bank products and coordinate activities with internal departments.
• Ensure compliance with KYC, AML and sanctions policies, review portfolio documentation monthly and sign off loan applications and legal documents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing SME banking relationships.
• Strong understanding of business cycles, financial needs and banking products.
• Ability to maintain regular client contact and deliver a differentiated customer experience.
• Knowledge of KYC, AML and financial sanctions regulations.
