Shift Brewer

About the role

The Shift Brewer is responsible for managing a brewing shift to produce quality wort and beer efficiently, safely and at optimal cost while maintaining team morale.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and acquire all requirements for the shift, including raw materials and equipment.
• Lead and develop the shift team, providing coaching and fostering a safe occupational health environment.
• Oversee the complete brewing process – milling, wort production, fermentation, filtration and cleaning in place.
• Uphold quality standards at source, manage hygiene of brewhouse, cellars and vessels.
• Apply MMS best practices, monitor quality triggers and use the escalation matrix for deviations.
• Manage assets, control costs, minimise waste and handle inventory.
• Facilitate problem‑solving, lead continuous‑improvement initiatives and ensure effective two‑way communication.
• Generate shift reports, maintain chemical safety, and ensure timely posting of beer and material data in SAP.

Required profile

• BSc in Food Science & Technology or a related natural‑science degree.
• Minimum 2 years of active brewing experience in an established brewery.
• IBD certification is an advantage.
