Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

About the role

Remote is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the core of its global HR platform. You will work on a fully remote, cross‑functional team, designing and delivering APIs, tools and integrations that enable businesses to hire, pay and manage international employees.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
• Build and optimise PostgreSQL data models and queries.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments on AWS.
• Collaborate with frontend, SRE and QA engineers to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Contribute to automation and AI‑driven workflows across the platform.

Required profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of shipping secure, reliable and scalable production systems.
• Experience designing or adopting automation/agentic workflows and iterating on them.
• Ability to think critically about architecture, observability and domain boundaries.
