Reconciliation Manager

About the role

The Reconciliation Manager will lead the bank's reconciliation function, ensuring that all bank, general ledger, suspense, clearing, digital, card, mobile‑money and Nostro accounts are reconciled accurately and on time. This role is critical for maintaining financial integrity, supporting audit requirements and managing operational risk.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation activities across all assigned accounts and ensure completion within service‑level timelines.
• Oversee investigation, ageing, escalation and clearance of reconciling items, exceptions and long‑outstanding balances.
• Perform quality‑assurance checks to verify completeness, accuracy, segregation of duties and adherence to reconciliation standards.
• Maintain robust documentation, evidence and audit trails for all reconciliations and exception resolutions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, AML, sanctions, KYC and information‑security standards.
• Prepare and submit reconciliation dashboards and exception reports, highlighting high‑risk items and root causes.
• Identify process gaps and recommend sustainable improvements; support internal and external audits.
• Engage with branches, treasury, finance, operations, technology and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
• Lead, coach and develop reconciliation staff, allocate workloads and promote automation and standardisation of processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in bank reconciliation and financial control functions.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (AML, KYC, sanctions).
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, set objectives and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on risk mitigation.
