Project Officer – Early Childhood Education (Zanzibar)

About the role

The Project Officer will support the SHINE CBC Zanzibar Project, which aims to strengthen the Competency‑Based Curriculum (CBC) in early childhood education across Zanzibar. The role involves coordinating trainings, field implementation, and community engagement to benefit over 5,500 children, 310 teachers and numerous stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate project activities, trainings, meetings and field implementation.
• Facilitate pre‑primary teachers’ preservice diploma training and deliver in‑service trainings.
• Support schools, teachers, communities and government partners throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct monitoring visits, prepare progress reports and ensure timely documentation.
• Promote community engagement and stakeholder coordination.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Community Development, Social Sciences, Project Management or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in project implementation, preferably in education or the NGO sector.
• Strong understanding of the Zanzibar education system and CBC reforms.
• Experience working with schools, communities and government institutions.
• Excellent report writing skills in English and Kiswahili.
• Ability to travel within Zanzibar.
