Project Director - Tanzania (GBV Prevention Program)

About the role

Global Communities is seeking a senior Project Director to lead a World Bank‑funded gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention programme in Tanzania. The 18‑month assignment will design, pilot, validate and scale a community‑based social‑norms change model across 15 councils, working closely with the Government of Tanzania and multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the GBV prevention programme.
• Coordinate with the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, the Prime Minister’s Office and the PAMOJA Project Implementation Unit.
• Oversee the four technical strands: formative research, curriculum adaptation, training of trainers, and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL).
• Design and culturally adapt the community‑based intervention based on the Bandebereho model.
• Manage the pilot phase in two councils and supervise the quality‑assured scale‑up to 15 councils.
• Validate a national GBV prevention protocol for sustainability within government structures.
• Ensure robust monitoring, reporting and learning mechanisms throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in gender equality or GBV prevention programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work with government ministries and international donors.
• Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams and complex, multi‑site interventions.
• Strong background in programme design, piloting and scale‑up.
