Project Director – GBV Prevention Program (Tanzania)

About the role

The Project Director will lead the Evidence‑Based Parenting Models addressing Gender‑Based Violence (GBV) program in Tanzania. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the role oversees the design, implementation and monitoring of the World Bank‑funded initiative over an 18‑month period.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the GBV Prevention project.
• Coordinate closely with the World Bank, Government of Tanzania and local partners to ensure alignment with evidence‑based approaches.
• Develop and manage project work plans, budgets and timelines, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
• Supervise project staff, consultants and sub‑contractors, fostering a high‑performing team.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, producing regular progress and financial reports.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building for local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience managing large‑scale GBV or protection‑focused programmes in humanitarian or development settings.
• Proven track record of delivering donor‑funded projects, preferably with the World Bank.
• Strong understanding of Tanzanian context and gender‑based violence prevention strategies.
• Relevant advanced degree (e.g., International Development, Public Health, Social Sciences).
