Plant Medical Doctor

About the role

The Plant Medical Doctor will lead the delivery of comprehensive health services to employees at a cement manufacturing facility. The role focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating occupational and general health conditions while supporting workplace safety and wellness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and screenings for injuries, illnesses, and occupational diseases.
• Prescribe medications and refer patients to specialists as needed, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Provide emergency medical care for workplace accidents and coordinate evacuation or hospital transfer when required.
• Maintain accurate, regulatory‑compliant medical records of evaluations, treatments, test results, and medications.
• Supervise medical assistants and nursing staff, ensuring quality of care and regulatory adherence.
• Develop and run health awareness and wellness programs tailored to industrial workers.
• Monitor occupational health risks specific to cement production, such as respiratory issues, musculoskeletal disorders, and chemical exposure.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.
• Valid licence to practise medicine in Tanzania.
• Minimum five (5) years post‑qualification experience.
• Certification or training in occupational health is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health hazards, emergency medicine, and preventive healthcare.
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational abilities.
