Operational Technology Analyst – Underground Mining

About the role

The Operational Technology Analyst provides 24/7 support for underground mining operations, ensuring reliable network connectivity, communications and technology infrastructure across sites such as Star & Comet, Nyankanga and Geita Hill. The role involves troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of OT systems including SCADA and other automation solutions to enable safe and efficient production.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 operational support for underground OT networks, including day and night shifts.
• Troubleshoot network problems, perform fiber‑optic splicing and fusing for new installations or repairs.
• Install, test, commission and maintain underground OT infrastructure and devices.
• Configure network devices, update topology registers and monitor device performance.
• Ensure cyber‑security compliance and protect OT infrastructure from unauthorized access.
• Document changes, follow change‑management procedures and report incidents.
• Support safety and risk management for OT systems and contribute to continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Degree, Diploma or Full Certificate in Telecommunications Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Working at height certificate and industrial automation/rigging certification.
• Experience with underground mining OT systems, SCADA and network infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and ability to work in hazardous environments.
