Land Surveyor

About the role

An agricultural company, recruited through Shugulika Africa Limited, is looking for a Land Surveyor to carry out precise measurements and mapping of land areas for engineering, construction and agricultural projects. The role uses advanced surveying instruments and GPS equipment to set boundaries, check execution works on site and ensure project designs align with site conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field surveys using total stations, GPS (RTK) and leveling instruments.
• Establish control points and benchmarks for construction and land development projects.
• Collect, analyse and record spatial data accurately for mapping and planning.
• Prepare survey reports, maps and layouts using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Verify survey data against technical drawings and project plans.
• Collaborate with the surveying leader to provide accurate site data.
• Supervise calibration and maintenance of equipment and monitor progress, providing as-built survey points.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in surveying, Geomatics, a Diploma in Surveying or a related field.
• Professional certification in surveying preferred.
• Minimum 5-8 years of relevant land surveying experience, preferably in construction or agricultural projects, including large-scale infrastructure, construction or agriculture projects.
• Demonstrated experience with GPS and surveying systems is a must.
• At least intermediate English; valid driving licence preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Total Station, GPS and Auto Level instruments.
• Excellent command of AutoCAD and surveying software such as Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of topographic mapping, leveling and coordinate systems.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical thinking, good communication and teamwork, ability to work under pressure in the field.
