Laboratory Manager – Limestone & Mineral Processing

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead the laboratory and quality‑control function at a limestone and mineral‑processing plant in Tanga, Tanzania. You will ensure raw materials, in‑process streams and finished products meet strict specifications while maintaining world‑class laboratory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all laboratory operations, including sample collection, preparation and analysis.
• Conduct quality‑control testing on limestone, calcium carbonate and related mineral products.
• Operate, maintain and calibrate analytical instruments such as XRF, ICP‑OES, Malvern Particle Size Analyzer and Moisture Meter.
• Generate and issue laboratory reports, highlighting any deviations from specifications.
• Collaborate closely with Production and Mining teams to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Laboratory Science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory and quality‑control management within mineral or inorganic chemical processing.
• Proven ability to manage a team and maintain laboratory quality systems.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with X‑ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry.
• Proficiency in Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP‑OES).
• Familiarity with Malvern Particle Size Analyzer.
• Experience using Moisture Meters and other analytical equipment.
