About the role
The House Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating patient care across the hospital during night shifts. This role ensures the nursing process is implemented, supervises the unit team, and collaborates closely with physicians to maintain high-quality care.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policies.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to nursing and ancillary staff.
- Act as the primary point of contact for patient transfers, admissions, and incident response.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective personnel distribution.
- Resolve shift‑related issues, make decisions in the absence of administrators, and escalate when necessary.
- Track trends, communicate findings to leadership, and contribute to problem‑solving initiatives.
- Lead the hospital safety plan during night hours, coordinating responses to employee injuries and other incidents.
Required profile
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Minimum 5 years of acute‑care hospital experience.
- Previous house supervisory or charge nurse experience.
- Critical care experience preferred.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PAL certifications.
Required skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- PAL (Professional Ambulance License) certification.
