Health and Safety Officer – Laboratory (Bulyanhulu Mine)

About the role

The Health and Safety Officer will join the laboratory team at the Bulyanhulu Mine Site, ensuring that all operations comply with health, safety and environmental regulations. This role supports the rapid growth of Tanzania's geochemical industry by maintaining a safe working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Follow all HSE protocols, maintain proper housekeeping and safe handling of chemicals and hazardous substances.
• Investigate accidents on‑site, conduct incident reporting and recommend corrective actions.
• Train, advise and support management, supervisors and staff on HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out regular inspections of fire, safety and environmental equipment, facilities and buildings, and follow up on deficiencies.
• Respond to unsafe conditions, hazard reports and emergency cases, and track corrective actions to closure.
• Manage medical case follow‑up, arrange hospital or clinic bookings, and book PCR tests when required.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses, competency assessments and continuous risk assessments to develop safe work procedures.
• Serve as Hazardous Waste Disposal Officer, overseeing storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, hazardous areas and safety system compliance.

Required profile

• Dedicated and professional individual with experience in HSE roles, preferably in laboratory or mining environments.
• Strong knowledge of Tanzanian health, safety and environmental regulations and ability to interpret them.
• Excellent investigative and reporting skills for accidents and hazards.
• Ability to deliver training sessions and safety inductions to staff.
• Good communication skills for interacting with clients and internal teams.
