Head of Internal Audit – Lead Internal Controls & Risk Management

About the role

The Head of Internal Audit will lead CVPeople Tanzania’s internal audit function, overseeing the design and execution of risk‑based audit programmes across all business units. Reporting directly to senior management, this role ensures robust internal controls, compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides independent assurance to the board.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual risk‑based internal audit plan covering all operational areas.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of internal control systems, risk management processes, and governance practices.
• Prepare and present detailed audit reports highlighting findings, control gaps, and actionable recommendations to senior leadership and the board.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, professional auditing standards, and corporate policies.
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors and coordinate audit activities across the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or a related discipline.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent is mandatory.
• Extensive experience in internal auditing or financial management, with a proven record in a senior leadership or management role.
• Strong analytical abilities, high integrity and excellent communication skills.
