Freelance Web Developer (Part‑time, Moshi)

About the role

The Freelance Web Developer will join Akar Digital Solutions to create fast, mobile‑first tourism websites that turn visitors into enquiries. Working part‑time from Moshi, you will collaborate with designers, marketers and content creators to deliver responsive front‑end interfaces and robust back‑end functionality aligned with client booking goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain mobile‑first tourism websites with a focus on low‑bandwidth performance.
• Build and optimise pages, integrate third‑party tools such as booking engines and analytics platforms.
• Ensure cross‑browser and cross‑device compatibility and implement SEO‑friendly site structures.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, refine user experience and contribute to project planning.
• Deliver clean, maintainable code within agreed timelines and collaborate with the wider team.

Required profile

• Residing in Moshi, Tanzania.
• Strong front‑end development and web design skills, including responsive and mobile‑first layouts.
• Solid back‑end development and programming abilities.
• Experience with CMS platforms such as WordPress and version‑control systems.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices, performance optimisation and analytics tools.
• Effective communication in English; Kiswahili is a plus.
• Relevant qualification (diploma or degree) in Computer Science or related field is beneficial.
• Prior experience in tourism, hospitality or digital marketing is advantageous.
