Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller is a senior leadership position within Standard Chartered Bank’s Finance team. You will shape financial governance, ensure transparency and support the bank’s strategic growth by delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end accounting processes to produce statutory, regulatory and internal management reports in line with IFRS, local regulations and Group policies.
• Develop and maintain a robust financial control framework, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with Group Tax and internal partners to design and execute tax strategies that optimise the bank’s tax position while ensuring compliance.
• Oversee capital adequacy, liquidity, funding, balance‑sheet and market‑risk parameters, balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives.
• Partner with the Country Treasurer to prepare ICAAP documentation and secure Board and regulator approvals.
• Manage the external audit relationship, define scope, coordinate deliverables and drive continuous improvement of control processes.
• Lead annual budgeting and long‑term financial planning, providing forecasts and strategic recommendations.

Required profile

• Extensive experience managing complex regulatory financial reporting frameworks in a banking environment.
• Proven ability to prepare IFRS‑compliant financial statements and conduct sophisticated financial analysis.
• Strong background in banking capital structures, liquidity strategies and market‑risk management.
• Demonstrated leadership of multifunctional finance teams and effective stakeholder management.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
