Financial Controller

About the role

BRAC International is seeking an exceptional Financial Controller to act as the uncompromising guardian of financial truth and the second line of defense for its Tanzanian operations. You will own the full financial control environment across a complex, decentralized network, ensuring every number is accurate, auditable, and actionable from branch‑level entries to consolidated Board and regulatory reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the financial close process and deliver timely, accurate, audit‑ready financial reports.
• Maintain strong financial controls, data integrity, and governance frameworks across the organization.
• Conduct financial performance analysis, variance reviews, and provide actionable insights to management.
• Strengthen fraud prevention mechanisms, monitor financial risks, and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure timely submission of financial reports to management, the Board, regulators, lenders, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee financial governance of procurement and contracting processes, ensuring compliance with policies and value‑for‑money principles.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes and monitor performance against budgets and strategic objectives.
• Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, statutory, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements.
• Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, regulators, rating agencies, development partners, and other key stakeholders.
• Coordinate audits and facilitate timely resolution of audit findings.
• Lead finance systems optimisation, automation initiatives, and reporting enhancements, leveraging T24, Power BI and other digital tools.
• Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing finance and controllership team, driving staff development, succession planning and performance management.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing financial control in a decentralized, multi‑entity environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead financial close, reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Experience overseeing procurement governance and vendor management.
• Track record of strengthening fraud prevention, risk monitoring and compliance frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with auditors, regulators and development partners.
• Leadership experience building and developing finance teams.
