Destination Steward (Sustainability Alliances) – Zanzibar

About the role

Iberostar Group is seeking a Destination Steward to lead sustainability initiatives in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The role bridges Iberostar’s corporate sustainability agenda with local priorities, fostering responsible tourism and environmental stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Represent Iberostar in local tourism boards, associations, and sustainability‑focused organizations.
• Lead multi‑sector projects addressing ecosystem degradation, water use, waste management, and community involvement.
• Facilitate public‑private partnerships that advance regional sustainability goals.
• Collaborate with internal departments to adapt Iberostar’s sustainability targets to local operational needs.
• Build and maintain relationships with governments, NGOs, businesses, and community groups.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of sustainable tourism and environmental challenges in coastal destinations.
• Proven experience engaging public and private stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and lead cross‑functional initiatives.
