Deputy Representative Operations

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Deputy Representative Operations to support the Head of Office in Dar‑es‑Salaam. The incumbent will act as a strategic business partner, driving results, managing risk and ensuring effective delivery of operational services across the country programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Office in overall office management and act as Officer in Charge when required.
• Oversee budget preparation, financial management, reporting and compliance with UNICEF policies.
• Manage facilities, administration, supply and logistics operations to ensure timely and cost‑effective service delivery.
• Lead information and communications technology services, including system maintenance and user support.
• Provide analytical advice and risk‑informed solutions to support programme and management decisions.
• Coordinate with government partners, donors and internal units to align operational activities with the Country Programme objectives.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public administration, finance, business management or a related field.
• Extensive experience (minimum 10 years) in senior operational management within international development or humanitarian organisations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large budgets.
• Strong understanding of UNICEF’s operational standards and the development context in Tanzania.
