Custodian (Temple Facilities)

About the role

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints is seeking a Custodian to maintain temple facilities in Tanzania. This part‑time position ensures that worship, teaching and ordinance spaces remain clean, safe and reverent for members.

Key responsibilities

• Clean all assigned areas to established standards, including floors, restrooms and common spaces.
• Remove and replace draperies, chandeliers, lights and set up meeting rooms as requested.
• Operate custodial equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners and vacuums.
• Handle cleaning agents and chemicals using appropriate protective gear.
• Report any facility problems to the supervisor and maintain good public relations.

Required profile

• Current temple recommend holder.
• Ability to understand English for communication, training and safety instructions.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lb, push loaded carts, bend, crawl and reach.
• Willingness to complete safety and equipment‑usage training.

Required skills

• Operation of buffers, carpet cleaners and vacuum machines.
• Use of hand and motorized cleaning tools.
• Safe handling of cleaning chemicals with gloves, masks or other protective equipment.
