Country HR Manager

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on, impact‑driven HR professional to build people operations from the ground up for a pioneering marine‑conservation and sustainable‑impact organization. This founding HR role will shape systems, culture and talent development across field‑based conservation teams and local commercial ventures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for all levels, from field staff and technicians to supervisors and managers, leveraging local community networks.
• Design and implement core HR templates, contracts, onboarding journeys and policies aligned with group standards and Tanzanian regulations.
• Ensure 100 % statutory compliance, maintain personnel records and coordinate payroll inputs.
• Champion safeguarding, grievance channels, DEI and employee well‑being across offices and remote sites.
• Develop performance and capacity‑building plans, coach first‑time supervisors and support local career pathways.
• Spend 4–6 days per month on‑site visiting field sites, coastal villages and operating facilities.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of hands‑on HR management, operations or talent‑acquisition experience.
• Deep, practical knowledge of Tanzanian labour laws and statutory compliance.
• Proven track record in volume/blue‑collar recruitment through community networks.
• Exceptional integrity, discretion and problem‑solving grit.
• Passion for people development, safeguarding and willingness to work in remote field settings.
• Fluency in Swahili and English.
• Experience in agribusiness, aquaculture, fisheries, conservation or dual non‑profit/commercial models is a strong plus.
